Giving Up Junk Food

Dear Michele,

"You Have Got To Be Kidding.  Not Possible."

Summer is upon us and I hear the students cheering as school comes to a close for the year. I wonder what some of them will be doing. What will you be doing?  Are you going to take a vacation with your family, see friends or visit places from your bucket list? This brings me to ask, "Are you going to DISCONNECT and UNPLUG from technology while you are away?" I saw that...you winced. Did your heart just race at this thought or did you need to catch your breath?

Well I am here to tell you it's time to unwind and reconnect with those around you.  (I know some of you will say, "Not possible." Ok so be it, but here's my take.) Personally, I have to tell you when I see a family together on a vacation and every piece of technology is still in their hands, part of me cringes. The only togetherness I see is close physical proximity. Call me old fashioned, out of touch, unrealistic or off the grid...but when I'm with those I care about, I want to be with them physically, emotionally and mentally. I want to hear what they have to say; their stories, their thoughts. I don't want to be interrupted by phone calls, texts or check every second to see who emailed me. For me there's a harsher unspoken message conveyed while on vacation when using all the devices/lifelines at your fingertips, "You come second, business comes first. You are not AS important." Nope not for me, life can go on without me, I WANT TO BE FULLY PRESENT!

I'm off for 10 days to see our kids. I am sticking by my guns and during the time we are together I plan on not turning anything on which has an on or off switch or needs a cord!  This could be hard, but my focus is on them. Life does go on and what is certain, the sun will come up over the mountains the next day.

Can I challenge you to do the same?

 Keeping You In the Loop
As summer is upon us, this is a time to be with your family and friends.  Celebrate the out of doors and see what appears before you that you might have missed before.  Wishing you all the best for whatever vacation you will embark upon!

In the process of creating some new workshops for the fall...stay tuned!
